LIPA’s new MA Acting (Company)
We're thrilled to be teaming up with the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts’ (LIPA) on their new Masters in Acting (Company).
As part of the association, the MA students will spend six weeks as the company in residence at the Playhouse Studio. They will also collaborate with our New Works department and Playwrights' Programme to develop new material.
The recently launched MA Acting (Company) has an emphasis on creating new work, researching and finding an audience for it and then touring it. Gemma Bodinetz, our Artistic Director, said: “We are very excited to be working in association with LIPA on this innovatory MA course that seeks to bring together academic learning, existing professional practice and new ways of making theatre. We have shared many successful projects in the past and are now thrilled to collaborate with LIPA once more on this ground-breaking MA course led by Matt Wilde.”
The association will also provide students with mentoring from our staff covering producing, marketing, press, education and development. They will also get year-long access to casting opportunities with us and the opportunity to work with various Young Everyman Playhouse productions.
MA Acting (Company) Course Leader Matt Wilde said: “Working with leading industry partners is an important element of LIPA training and they don’t get much better than the E&P.
“It is an acclaimed bastion of creative innovation and artistic excellence that looks beyond London for inspiration, talent and originality. Gemma Bodinetz, Nick Bagnall and their team of exceptional practitioners and expert leaders in their fields will offer unrivalled support to our students.”
The MA Acting (Company) is a performance based course with students also receiving advanced training to further their technical ability as an actor. The year culminates with the creation and presentation of a new touring production as a graduate company, with the backing of a £1,000 grant per company member.
The course is currently recruiting its first intake of students to begin the course in September 2018.
Application is through LIPA’s website www.lipa.ac.uk
