Laleh Kamalian

Laleh Kamalian is a self-taught artist who found art at a late stage of her life after working unhappily as a doctor or scientist for so many years. After finding her love of drawing, she self-motivated herself to experiment many media and styles to finally choose colour pencil and pastel as her preferred media, and realism as the style most attuned with her personality. Her favourite subject is human portrait, where she aims to show the characteristics and emotions of the portrayed to the best of her ability. However, she enjoys describing the nature beauties in the form of flowers, scenery or wildlife with her art too.

Starting art from the scratch in 2014 and working as a full-time artist from summer 2018 she has gained herself many achievements such as being selected for several national and international exhibitions, winning a few awards and publishing articles in art magazines. She is a member of dot-art Liverpool, Wirral Art Society, the International Guild of realism as well as colour pencil societies of the UK and the USA.

She describes art as the love of her life, a never-ending journey of learning, amazement and excitement, one she never looks back from. She considers herself the living example of the moto: “It’s never too late!”

"I am delighted to work as the resident artist at Everyman. I cannot wait to meet and talk to all those interesting people while working on my "Light and Darkness" portrait series, which is all about emotion, character and personal statement. I will be looking for inspiration and new ideas in the general public and the artists around me."
