Line Up for Thu 28 Mar

Leigh Douglas
Leigh is a queer Irish stand-up who likes making jokes about the English, Disney princesses and lesbians (with a light zesting of Catholic guilt). She appeared in Live at the Queer Comedy Club for FrootTV in the UK and OutTV internationally and was recently selected for the BBC New Comedy Regional Showcase. Her comedy short, You’re Alright Hun, won Best Micro Short at the Women’s Comedy Film Festival: Atlanta and Best Short Short at the London Independent Film Festival.
Mandy McCarthy
Is a veteran on the comedy circuit, she blew the roof last time she was at Fem, a warm and fearless act, able to play any room from small intimate comedy clubs to theatres and be totally un-phased.  From the North, Mandy’s comedy is a mix of gags, stories of family life, the joys of getting older, and audience engagement. She has performed for many well-known comedy clubs, large charity events, and various comedy promoters, she is a dream to watch and a joy to audiences.
“She has a natural commanding presence in any room and is a wonderful act.”
Shalaka Kurup
Shalaka is an award-winning Indian comedian. Her observational humour has been described as being “deadpan joy” (The Morning Star) and acerbic. She recently opened for Eshaan Akbar and Ria Lina, and has been featured on Channel 4 Digital and BBC One. “an impressive arsenal of cool, sardonic stand-up” – Chortle
Johanna Roberts
Johanna: poet, comedian, artist, ad lib to fade. I'll try anything once.
Lorna Gray
"Quite funny actually" - Lorna's mum
"Your life is a joke" - ex-boyfriend.
Lorna started comedy because it's cheaper than therapy and there's much more validation in making people laugh at her sad little life. Covering topics such as dating, getting older and neurodiversity, please don't make her regret her decision of doing stand up, she's not cynical enough yet to realise there's much better uses of her time.
Maura Jackson
Maura  53 is an award winning charity boss by day and makes audiences laugh by night. She can’t decide if she’s a charity CEO, stand up comedian or keynote speaker. So for now she’s all 3.
Marie Goulbourne
Marie is an original, authentic and self effacing comic who speaks candidly about her life as an autistic oddball in the modern world. If you’re averse to swearing, or honesty to the bone, she’s not for you. Dry, refreshing and a little bit different. “Marie is instantly likeable, dry, smart and above all, funny. A nice change in the sea of comedy beige and definitely welcome back any time” Harriet Dyer.
Sumayyah Maye
Prides herself on being a single mommy, neurodivergent and black Muslim. She has been writing poetry since she learned how to write and doesn't plan on stopping any time soon. With an American dad, a Scouse mom, and 15 years living abroad in Saudi Arabia, she hopes to relate to many on different levels. She prominently writes poetry in English but recently picked up writing Arabic poetry as well.
