Thu 4 Mar 2021

ONLINE

Lockdown’s still here, I know, so why not kick back for a night on Zoom during this lockdown, and join Alex, Lyndsay and the regulars at A Lovely Word for some poetry and fun.

The evening will start with a 20 minute headline slot, then headliner Q&A, then open mic poets.

This event is broadcast over Zoom and Facebook live (zoom link available the day before the performance, on the 3rd March). Facebook will be here.

If you want to sign up for the open mic, a four minute slot via Zoom, email [email protected] before the 2nd March midday, with your name and email. You will receive a confirmation the evening before the Open Mic.

HEADLINE POET: Hannah Swingler

Hannah Swingler likes to tell stories across a kaleidoscope of platforms including writing, performance and visual art.

Her debut collection 'This Dress Has Pockets' was published by Verve Poetry Press in 2019.

She has performed across the country and internationally, on stages, streets and radio. Her work explores themes of nostalgia and relationships, mental health, and heritage. She is constantly exploring narratives surrounding memory. Hannah has been commissioned by the likes of BBC Arts, The Poetry Society and Overhear. She was also the voice and face of Nationwide’s 2019 marketing campaign and is a multi-slam winner; recently winning the Hammer & Tongue Team Slam at The Royal Albert Hall alongside Uni of Birmingham’s UniSLAM team.

Hannah spends her days teaching art to secondary and sixth form students and that it's okay to be messy. She has kept her hands and head busy during lockdown knitting cupboards full of clothes and eating pudding for breakfast. Hannah believes good things come to those who make, whatever their craft.
