Pulitzer Prize winning graphic novelist coming to Liverpool

As part of their 20th year celebrations Writing On The Wall Festival is bringing Pulitzer Prize-winning artist and illustrator Art Spiegelman to the Playhouse on 28 May.

The author of Maus - the classic comic which depicted the Holocaust with mice as Jews and cats as Nazis, credited for taking the art form into the political realm - will appear in Liverpool as his only date in the North of England.

Spiegelman will be in conversation with British graphic novelist Bryan Talbot. The two will discuss the American artist's distinguised career, the rise of comics into the mainstream and the important role they play in understanding our unprecendented political landscape.

The event is a fitting occasion to mark two decades of Writing on the Wall, one of the longest running literary festivals and writing charities and a champion of radical writing since its inception.

Art Spiegelman comes to the Playhouse on Thu 28 May 2020. Tickets are available to book online, in person or by calling 0151 709 4776.
