Matt Rutter will be leaving his role as the inspirational director of YEP

11 November 2021

After 10 years of creating and leading our award-winning programme for young people YEP, Matt Rutter has decided to leave in the New Year.

On sharing the news, Matt said: "It’s been an incredibly difficult decision for me to make on both a professional and personal level. YEP means so much to me and is something Tomo, Rob, Christina, Nicole, Sadie and the rest of the team have put so much care and love into over many years. With the 10th anniversary of YEP approaching it feels like the right time for me to pass the baton on for someone to lead YEP into the future. On a personal level working many evenings and weekends’ has kept me away from my family and I want to spend time with them."

Matt won't be leaving until early next year, so will be focusing his time on shaping a plan for the future and a very big 10th birthday party.

Mark Da Vanzo, CEO on thanking Matt for his inspirational work added: “We are hugely fond of Matt and will be very sad to see him go. Matt has given his all to building the Young Everyman Playhouse (YEP) over the past decade, one of the best youth theatre offerings in the country. We are indebted to Matt for his immense contribution to the theatres and wish him all the very best for the future”.
