Art in the Everyman // Barbara Derecka

Windows to the Soul
An exhibition by Barbara Derecka
13 Feb to 11 Mar 2024

Barbara is a Cheshire based artist, painting mostly in acrylics, but also mixed media, oil and watercolour. She has graduated from graphic design in 2009. She paints mostly in pop art, figurative, landscapes or animals.
In her art, she captures the beauty of places, people, animals, and beloved underwater. Barbara’s art is bold, full of colour and expressive brush strokes.
Barbara captures moments, she paints what she experiences every day, she captures feelings in her figurative works, but also what she loves doing. As a scuba diver she loves painting underwater scenes. She loves travelling, exploring different cultures, different people she meets around the world.
Barbara is environmental couscous, and she considers some of her work as a way to connect a human being with the natural world to make people think about their impact on the environment. When she paints underwater, figurative and landscapes she tries to show how beautiful places, people, animals are and that we shall all protect them.

Barbara’s exhibition “Windows to the soul” is a collection of artworks presenting urban landscapes, pop art animals, figurative art that is all about capturing different feelings.
