Art in the Everyman // North West Artists Support Group - Summer Memories

An exhibition by Christine Bintcliffe, Jenny Brown, Leanne Mallinson, Janine Mount & Helen Williams
04 Oct to 17 Oct 2023

This is the second exhibition for the North West Artists Support Group. As we head from Autumn towards Winter with colder days and longer nights, we wanted a theme that would be reflective. The artists have collaborated to capture the essence of Summer through their unique perspectives and styles.

We hope you find "Summer Memories" an uplifting collection of artworks, which reconnects you with some of your own memories to celebrate the magic of Summer.

Christine Bintcliffe is a music inspired, mixed media collage artist based in Lancashire, she has always has a passion for music, from listening to vinyl records on her old Dansette record player and absorbing the lyrics to still going to see live music decades on. Christine takes those memories and experiences and through the lyrics of songs combines them with the visual charm of collage, incorporating bright colour, shape and mark making, uniting her two loves, music and art. In her work Christine hopes that the symphony of visuals through lyrical interpretation may evoke a memory, or a lyric or song choice may take the viewer back to a special moment in time, thus connecting with both the artwork and her vision. www.stardustacrylicart.com Instagram: @stardustacrylicart Facebook: @stardustacrylicart

Jenny Brown. I love to share my passion for colour. For me this is a way of sharing my view of the world and showing how interesting and magical it can be. This can be standing quietly on the shoreline listening to the waves lapping gently as the tide turns, as I have spent many Summers, when my children were young. More recently, a short break in Wales with its blustery weather provided the inspiration for my second painting. A neighbour’s cat has recently started to visit my garden - she seems to like the mix of sunshine and shade. I like to sit and watch the butterflies! Sometimes its good to just sit and be quiet in the moment - cats appear to know this instinctively. My prize for being one of 15 runners up for the DotArt 15 Birthday Exhibition, was an abstract course by Madeleine Pires. This has given me another approach to my artwork, being totally in the moment, using colour to reflect different energies around me.

Janine Mount is a nature & wildlife artist based in Wirral with a passion for sharing the beauty of the natural world through her artwork. Initially a watercolourist, her artistic journey took a dynamic turn in 2021 when she embraced the medium of pastels. She was drawn to their versatility allowing her to capture the exquisite detail of her subjects.
This collection is a tribute to the summer season with each piece encapsulating a moment in time. Whether it is a swan emerging from the water, a bumblebee amidst lavender, a swallowtail butterfly in flight or a flowering eucalyptus, Janine’s art invites viewers to pause & appreciate the wonders that surround us. Her work is a reminder of the preciousness of our planet & the need to protect it for future generations.
Janine had one of her artworks selected for the Williamson Open Exhibition 2023.

Helen Williams. As an intuitive artist all my paintings come through my inner feelings rather than thoughts. My ‘thinking mind ‘ quietens and the journey begins. For this ‘Summer Memories’ exhibition, I have accessed those long ago memories of my childhood. Lazy days spent under a moon, pale in the light of day. Nodding grasses in which to while away the hours. Hedges verdant and floral. The natural world that is awe inspiring. That is part of the past brought to now. My now of seeing pathways to shape understandings of being an ageing, adult, human in a fast paced and busy world. Finding balance so as to have peace in the seeming chaos. Now manifesting visual spaces in which to simply breathe. Enjoy the show.
