Camilla Mankabady
Trustee

Camilla Mankabady is the first Director of Communications to be appointed at Liverpool City Council.

She joined the council in January 2019 at a time of government austerity, Brexit fears and global downturn. They work closely with local government colleagues and city stakeholders across the private and public sectors.

Prior to returning to her home city, Camilla was a senior TV News Editor running flagship network newsrooms across both BBC News and ITV News. Camilla was the programme editor for all of the main BBC news TV bulletins – the News at One, the News at Six and the News at Ten – before moving to ITV News to become the programme editor of ITV’s News at Ten.

In 2018, Camilla was nominated for a BAFTA for ITV News at Ten’s programme coverage of the ‘Grenfell Fire’ disaster. Camilla has also worked as a Senior Media Consultant, helping to launch the Daytime and Evening schedules for the Euronews World Channel, in collaboration with the US-network NBC.

Camilla prides herself on story-telling, communicating complex thoughts and guiding dynamic teams of creative individuals.

Over the years Camilla has spent much time as an industry awards judge - assessing and rewarding journalists - through the Royal Television Society, Amnesty and MHP Communications.

Camilla also has experience as a university accreditor - helping to assess journalism degrees - under the auspices of the Broadcast Journalism Training Council.

Camilla is a member of the Liverpool City Region Digital and Creative Board and is also a member of the Executive Committee of LGcomms, the membership body for communication professionals in local government.
