Box Office update
On Monday 23rd March, the government announced measures to slow the spread of coronavirus, reducing the time spent by people outside of their homes.

Due to this latest update, we now feel it is no longer responsible of us as an organisation to bring our Box Office team into our theatres. Box Office have been working through bookings as quickly as possible and they will still be contacting customers via home working to discuss their order, but this may take longer than expected. We have really appreciated your patience during this time, and we hope you are able to extend this as we work through another different situation.

Where shows or events have been cancelled, customers will still be entitled to two options:
1. Donate the cost of your ticket to the theatres
2. A refund.

Currently, we cannot safely process refunds off site. To protect your personal information, we are only able to take payment and refunds on specific computers using certain phone lines directly linked to our theatres. As an organisation, we have a duty to protect your data, and failure to do so could result in heavy penalties and prosecution.

Box Office managers are working on how we can process refunds while our building is closed. Please bear with us as we try and arrange the safest and most secure way to do this. We realise delayed refunds may be frustrating, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

If your show is marked as postponed, please wait until a new date is announced before deciding whether you would like a refund. Ticketholders will be contacted when new show dates are announced.

We would like to thank everyone who has donated to us during this difficult time. As a registered charity and like many other theatres, we rely on goodwill and support to keep our theatres going. If you feel you would like do the same we would be eternally grateful. If you would like to donate, please email [email protected] and we will make a note on your account.

Our Box Office team will be available via [email protected], Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm. Phone lines will be unavailable. Our buildings are closed, except for essential on-site building maintenance staff.

We’ll be back with you in person as soon as we can, but in the meantime keep regularly updated with our current status and the status of shows on this page.

Please keep safe, look after one another and keep in touch.

Update: Tuesday 17th March 2020, 12:30

Dear Friends of the Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse theatres,

We appreciate many of you have been waiting to hear our response to this tricky time we are currently facing globally.  After careful consideration and in line with official Government advice of last night, stipulating that people should avoid public buildings including theatres to help slow the spread of coronavirus, from today we regret to announce Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse theatres will be postponing its shows at both venues until this advice changes.

As a public space, we have a duty of care to our audiences, our cast members and our staff.  Your safety takes the utmost priority over our shows.

Northern Broadsides’ production of Quality Street at the Playhouse will no longer go ahead, and we have made the decision to pause our in-house production of Our Lady of Blundellsands at the Everyman for the entirety of its run.

We are working with the producers of our other forthcoming visiting productions, Holes, Ghost Stories and Zog, as well as productions through until June to work out the next steps.  Ticket holders will be contacted as soon as information is available.

Closure will affect all events, hires and customer facing services in our theatres for the foreseeable future. We will resume events when guidance is given on when it is safe and responsible to re-open.

Audience members with tickets for Quality Street and Our Lady of Blundellsands will be contacted in due course and are of course entitled to a refund.

As a registered charity and like many other theatres, we rely on goodwill and support to keep our theatres going. Some of our patrons and audience members have chosen to decline their refund in favour of supporting our charitable activities at this difficult time.  If you felt you could do the same we would be eternally grateful.  Our Box Office team will discuss the options with you when they contact you about your refund process.

Please bear in mind that our Box Office and other customer service teams are extremely busy and your patience during this difficult time is greatly appreciated.

First and foremost, let’s look after ourselves. Read the most up-to-date health advice from Public Health England

For the latest updates from across the Liverpool City Region, follow Liverpool City Council’s dedicated social media feeds:

Thank you as always for your continued support of our theatres. When it is safe and sensible to do so, we are looking forward to welcoming you through our doors once again. In the meantime, watch this space for updates on how we will bring theatre out of our venues and to you digitally for everyone to enjoy.

We appreciate that theatre and the creative industries are often the lifeblood of a healthy creative society.  We at e&P are determined to keep supporting healthy creative lives in all we do during this difficult period for our staff, our creatives, our audiences and the sector as a whole

Update: Monday 16th March 2020, 21:00

Further to today’s official government advice, which stipulates that people should avoid public buildings including theatres to help slow the spread of coronavirus, our extended management group for this situation is working through the ramifications and we are in consultation with our Trustees, Funders and the wider theatre community here in Liverpool and across the UK.

We take the well-being of our audiences, staff, acting companies and suppliers very seriously and will be meeting again first thing tomorrow morning to agree next steps.  We will provide you with a further update once we fully understand these government recommendations.

This is a very fast-developing situation nationally and we would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding. Please look after yourselves, be safe and help protect our most vulnerable members of society during this difficult time.

Update: Friday 13th March 2020, 14:30

With the developing situation around coronavirus, we would like to update and reassure audiences about the plans in place at Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse theatres.

We are following guidance from Liverpool City Council and Public Health England during this time. Liverpool is open for business as usual and our buildings are open and safe for audiences.

Our shows at both the Everyman and the Playhouse are currently going ahead as planned. We have a duty of care to audiences and have put extra measures in place to try and reduce the risk in our theatres.

We understand there is a level of anxiety around visiting public spaces at this moment. If you have taken the decision to self-isolate, we respect that decision. While we’re unable to offer refunds in line with our policy, we can look at rearranging your visit to our theatres for a future performance of the same production (terms and conditions apply).

If you have plans to visit us, we are still delighted to welcome you through our doors. We’re asking everyone to show a little bit of courtesy to fellow audience members and to our staff. Follow hand washing guidance, use tissues, cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, and generally respect each other while visiting the theatre.

Before your visit, please take a look at NHS health information on coronavirus: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19.

This is a very fast-developing situation nationally and we would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we work to keep our theatres a safe environment for people to enjoy.
