There are lots of questions that we think you, your parents, guardians or teachers might have about YEP and we’ve tried to answer some here. But if there’s still something you want to know, then please email [email protected].
1. WHAT IS YEP?
YEP is an exciting initiative developed by the theatres to enable more young people to take part in a wide range of practical sessions involving different aspects of theatre.
3. HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE (OR NOT TO BE) TO BE IN YEP?
The age range to become a member of YEP is 11-25. However, some strands have higher age limits than others so please check the activity strand that you are interested in for further information.
4. DOES IT COST TO JOIN YEP, DO YOU HAVE TO PAY?
There is no cost to join YEP and you can get access to our £5 ticket deal as well as regular updates on opportunities and YEP shows.
We heavily subsidises all of our YEP programmes however, there are some activities that you do have to pay for. Young Actors fees are £40 per term. Skills workshops usually will cost about £4 per session or around £10 for a short weekend workshop.
The YEP Writers programme is by application only and does not charge participants.
5. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF JOINING YEP?

7. WHAT SKILLS AND /OR EXPERIENCE DO YOU NEED TO JOIN YEP?
You do not need any special skills or experience to become a member of YEP and gain access to the £5 ticket deal. However, some programmes and activity strands do require specific skills / experience and have an application process.

It depends on the route you take, but as a YEP member you will develop confidence, communication skills and understanding of theatre. See individual strand pages for more details.

Sessions take place on different days of the week according to the activity and age group. See individual strand pages for more details.
10. HOW OLD IS YEP?
YEP is a new initiative that replaces the Everyman youth theatre with a programme that includes a wider offer for young people interested in all aspects of theatre.
11. WHAT CAN YOU DO IN YEP?
Each of the different strands has a varied set of activities unique to each programme. However, you will be working on projects with other likeminded people with a real interest in your chosen area. For more information see individual strand pages.
12. CAN YOU GET INVOLVED IN MORE THAN ONE STRAND?
Yes, you can although it may be difficult as some sessions may run at the same time.
13. WHO WILL BE WORKING WITH YOU?
You will be working with our staff and industry professional from outside the theatres. All of our practitioners are fully DBS checked.
14. DO YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE THEATRE TO GET INVOLVED?
No. Some of our members have never set foot inside a theatre before they join YEP, others have been many times. Either way, it doesn’t matter.
15. IS THERE A MAILING LIST?
Yes. All YEP members will receive regular updates about shows, opportunities and offers. Sign up to the YEP Newsletter here.
16. WHY IS IT ONLY 11-25?
At the moment our main provision is for 11-25 year olds, with higher age restrictions for some strands. In the future we hope to be able to offer more activities for younger children but for now we offer Holiday Drama Weeks for 7-11 year olds. For more information please email [email protected].
