A new writing event organised by Bi’an, the UK Chinese Writers’ Network

Join novelists, PP Wong and Susan Barker for discussion, practical writing workshops and networking at this event organised by Bi’an, the UK Chinese Writers’ Network.

PP Wong is the first British-born Chinese novelist to get a publishing deal in the UK. Her debut novel The Life of a Banana, about race relations in London seen through the eyes of a 12-year-old girl, was longlisted for the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction and highly rated in reviews from Singapore to London. She also set up www.bananawriters.com  - ‘Where Asian writers get unpeeled.’

Susan Barker grew up in east London, studied at the University of Leeds and now teaches creative writing at the University of Manchester. She is the author of Sayonara Bar (2005) The Orientalist and the Ghost(2008) which was long-listed for the Dylan Thomas Prize, and The Incarnations, listed as a Notable Book of 2015 by the New York Times.

Bi’an, ‘the other shore’, is a new network set up to connect, develop and promote Chinese heritage writers across the UK. This event is the second of four Bi’an events to be held throughout 2018.
