Excuse Me

MUSEUM OF LIVERPOOL AND MARITIME MUSEUM

£4 - £6

What is it like to arrive in a foreign country with no grasp of the language? No idea of the culture? With nothing but a suitcase full of your most treasured belongings?

Against the backdrop of Liverpool docks, young people from youth theatres across Merseyside create an outdoor performance that focuses on the refugees and asylum seekers that have arrived in the city.

An Asylum Seeker is a person who:
Flees their homeland
Arrives in another country
Makes themselves known to the authorities
Exercises their legal right to apply for sanctuary
A Refugee is a person who
Has proved they would face persecution back home
Has had a successful asylum application
Is allowed to stay in that country after the authorities say ‘yes, you can stay here’
