YEP Communicator Ann Marie Flanagan...

...on I Am Not Myself These Days at the Playhouse Studio

I Am Not Myself These Days in the Playhouse studio exceeded my expectations.  I enjoyed the intimacy of the production, I felt like I was personally on the journey with 'Aqua' the drag queen. Aqua is an eccentric drag queen who has her comical moments but also her destructive ones. The adult humour had the audience engaged for the whole  duration of the piece. It was clear that there was an effective balance between the humour and the more serious deeper issues explored.  The show tackled some serious issues especially those surrounding addiction, presenting how this both corrupts ourselves as well as relationships with our loved ones.

Being a one man show didn't come as a challenge to the actor Tom Stuart who both wrote and performed this production amazingly. The way he was able to take on several characters working within such a small space is a real talent, leaving Tom with a standing ovation. Tom was persistent throughout and I feel this was a unique play centred around a Drag queen, something I had not experienced in theatre before.

The show is touring around the UK until mid March and I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants a unique, intimate experience.
