prepare for the Adventure

Working with one of the UK's most exciting theatre companies, Slung Low, some of our most innovative writers have been creating seven new stories inspired by the city. Which story will you encounter, where will you see it and how will it be told?

Stories by Robert Farquhar, Lizzie Nunnery, Matthew David Scott, Kellie Smith, Esther Wilson, Laurence Wilson and Jeff Young.

You buy a ticket and are taken out of the theatre on an adventure. But the person beside you at Box Office may well go on a completely different adventure to you. You cannot see all the stories in one visit. And you are never allowed to choose your adventure…it chooses you. The only guarantee is that if you return a second time you will not repeat your experience.

For each adventure into the unknown you are given headphones and are led by a character whilst listening to an originally composed soundtrack and set of sound effects that play in your ear like a film score. Alan Lane, Slung Low Artistic Director says “Something I've realised in the last few weeks as I've been preparing for Anthology is exactly how filmic it is in many ways…we are making full film soundscapes for seven, hour-long pieces.”

Actors include: Ken Bradshaw, Kevin Harvey, Lucy Hind, Matti Houghton, Paul McCleary, Eileen O'Brien, Emily Pithon, Stuart Richman, Nicholas Shaw and Hugh Skinner.

Soundscapes include some familiar voices as the spirit of the Everyman goes beyond the theatre walls with recordings from alumni: Eithne Browne, Pauline Daniels, Tom Georgeson, Matthew Kelly, Noreen Kershaw, David Morrissey and Jonathan Pryce. Liverpool’s Sense of Sound have also recorded music for one of the shows.
