Christmas comes early as productions at the Everyman and Playhouse win 7 of the 9 Theatre awards in the best of Liverpool culture. Winners include Anthology, Ghost Boy, Morecambe, Kevin Trainor, Eileen O'Brien, Janet Suzman and Jon Bausor.

Liverpool City Council has today given planning approval for the new Everyman theatre on Hope Street. Council Leader Cllr Joe Anderson endorsed the new design describing it as “a vital redevelopment for the City’s future. The Everyman is a real gem in Liverpool’s cultural life and while it will have a new-look it will retain its unique spirit.”

The cast and company of the Everyman’s Unbound season were welcomed to the Everyman on Monday evening following the first day of rehearsals in Liverpool.

Last Saturday a group of young people aged 15-19yrs old from across the region performed outside the Playhouse in Williamson Square with Brazilian cultural group AfroReggae as part of the first Liverpool Pride Festival.

Monday saw the arrival of the much anticipated AfroReggae who were welcomed with the sound of River Niger’s drumming. They are set to begin their community work with Liverpool’s young people this week.

Everyman and Playhouse Artistic Director, Gemma Bodinetz, and Executive Director, Deborah Aydon, reveal the final part of their 2010 season, to complete a year that has produced four world premières, two West End transfers and two UK touring productions.
